The Crossing CD |

The Crossing showcases some of my compositions along with my contrapuntal arrangement of Greensleeves. The CD features guest performances by the Kronos Quartet and David Grisman. This instrumental CD crosses the boundaries between jazz, bluegrass, rock, and classical. A colleague described it as Frank Zappa meets Stravinsky. Well, who knows? But when such diverse musicians as Joe Satriani (commenting on Aubade, "straight 10's!") and conductor emeritus of the San Antonio Symphony, Christopher Wilkins (commenting on Big Basin Breakdown, "an amazing piece!") express their enthusiasm for my music, perhaps I'm on to something. See sample pages from the scores for some of the tracks: (The Crossing, Aubade, Big Basin Breakdown, Greensleeves, Pasque March). Listen to sound clips and read short descriptions: (The Crossing, Aubade, Big Basin Breakdown, Greensleeves, Pasque March). |

*1912-1914 digitally enhanced recordings of Ishi singing. This piece will also work quite will with a typical medium-sized orchestra. Excepting the obvious solo passages, the winds and horns may be doubled at the conductor's discretion to balance with a larger complement of strings. |
